Extras is the new comedy series from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant - the creators and writers of the BBC comedy, The Office.

Gervais plays Andy Millman who has given up his day job to be an actor, but as hard as he tries, he can't land a a big role, or even a speaking part.

So he spends his (working) days as an extra with fellow actor and best friend, Maggie Jacobs (Ashley Jenson).

Andy is going to settle for being just an extra though, whenever he can, he approaches the A list stars trying to ingratiate himself and hopefully get that elusive speaking part.
